How does density affect performance?
The lower densities (3/4# to 1.5#) of foam have greater cushioning effect, but less strength and lower insulating performance (lower R-Value) while higher densities (2.0# and 3.0#) are stronger and are better insulators (higher R-Value). Density is a primary driver of cost, since more raw material is required to produce a denser foam.
